I remember Neil, sometimes we studied together after school. He lived off of Oak Park, and I walked past his place on my way to and from school. I rememberthat his nickname was "Buffy" long before that became an "in" nickname.
I remember Neil with a smile and being funny. He was in some of my PE classes. His father worked or owned the liqour store inside Louis Stores grocery on Oak Park. When the gorcery part closed, the liqour store was still there until the early 80's. His father still was there working.
I knew Neil had joined the Navy sometime after high school. The CC Times had a page "Our men in Service" and posted photos of people that had recently joined. I saw Neil's photo there. After my discharge from the Air Force, I was in line registering for classes for the fall of 71 at DVC and there was Neil. Alot thinner and more trim than he was in high school. Neil wasnt rolly polly overweight, but just big. Anyway, we talked and he had been an Electricians Mate aboard the USS Ranger. Dont know if he went to the Gulf of Tonkin or not. Years later I saw his obituary in the CC Times. Sad to see a nice person's life cut short.
I remember seeing Neill at the 20th PHHS reunion and he said he was working in Los Angeles as a hair stylist. He did have a nice smile and a warmth about him that I liked.
I want all the way through grade school with Buffy. He was a sweet soul! I think I remember he had to wear a sports jacket to the dinner table at his house! His bedroom had lots of model planes and such that he had assembled & painted!

I forgot. Yes I did see him at the 20th year reunion at the Sheraton in Concord. He was talking to Cheryl Sexton.
