Diana Herman

From the Contra Costa Times on Sept. 20, 2013:

"Diana Marie Herman Resident of Concord, CA Diana was born in Oakland, CA on 12/10/1946 the first child of Charles and Dorothy Herman. She grew up in Walnut Creek and graduated from Pleasant Hill HS. She worked at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for many years until retiring and will be fondly remembered by many colleagues. Diana loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling throughout the States, kayaking, horseback riding and she had been an avid gardener. She was a caring, compassionate and gentle spirit whose sense of humor and infectious laugh was a gift to all who knew her. Diana was a deeply devoted daughter, partner and a beloved sister and she will be missed. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Herman of Walnut Creek, her sisters, Valerie Herman of Napa, Karen Owen and Teresa Herman both of CA and her long time partner, Julie Adams. She passed peacefully, under the care of Hospice and her devoted caregiver Siteri after a long illness, at her home in Concord on 08/27/2013."

When I was new in ninth grade Diana kept us laughing in Miss McFarland's home ec class and I really needed that to offset my fear of those scary sewing machines.  She continued to provide laughs and smiles at swim team practices in the summers as well as at school.  And she was so excited to get the Beatles first album.  Rest in peace, Di, all too soon to be missing you at our reunion.
