DiAne Friedrich Fischer

Since high school I have lived in Mexico City (sophomore year of college), Georgia (Dane went into the Army and we were stationed there before he went to Viet Nam), back to California, where both Jenifer and Sarah Anne were born, 6th generation Californians thanks to Dane's father's side of the family.
I worked at HP while Dane was going to SJSU, then we moved to Colorado Springs. I finished my BSBA at University of Colorado@Colorado Springs while working at HP. Traveled a lot for marketing communications and research, moved to Ft. Collins after our divorce. Married Walt Fischer and then we moved to California 6 months later. Jen was starting college at Santa Clara and Sarah was starting junior high. So, they are very connected to that California living and only want to visit Colorado.
After I left HP I went to work for a start-up medical device company and worked on a Masters degree, finishing as we moved to Maryland and Sarah was going off to college. We lived there for 10 years and owned a B&B for 4 years in Barnesville, ~30 miles from Washington DC. I was a docent at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and a master gardener there.
We moved back to Colorado Springs where I became a docent at the Fine Arts Center. Walt went to work for Compassion International. After 8 years we decided to follow a call to Mexico to work in community development and microfinance...our Christian version of the Peace Corps. We lived there 2 years, living in Queretaro, working in the state of Mexico, then returned to California where Sarah was about ready to have her 3rd child, with the oldest being not quite 5. We lived in Carlsbad until Walt returned to Compassion here in Colorado Springs.
We have sponsored Compassion children from Bolivia (Roxana), Mexico (Itzel Anahi), Ecuador (Gabriel and Verith), and Dominican Republic (Jhensel), and now also write to Jenifer's sponsored child in India, Sukumari.
My interests are in the arts, playing the flute for the New Horizons Band, creating mosaics and glass, Bible study, cooking, walking in Garden of the Gods. We have good health and enjoy hanging out together and with grandsons!

Where do you start? Remember the football rallies and the games, the band marching on the field, basketball games, roller skating in the hallways, sitting on the senior lawn, singing in Sr. Avalos' Spanish class on Fridays, drama and dance with Winston Grant Gray, going to swim meets, the yummy big chocolate chip cookies at break. How about the Gay 90s pizza parlor after games? Swimming at Bancroft Creek and walking on the railroad trestle to get there. Mr. Harrison's choir class..and how he would narrow the off-key singer down to the last row, middle bass guy (because he wanted a jock in the choir, he got to stay...) Or how about cutting school to go to Santa Cruz or SF?
Laurie Ellen and I kicked a rock all the way from my house up to her house and then it went with us to Arizona on a driving trip to visit my brother the summer between junior and senior years. That rock went to Mexico City with me and then to Georgia with Dane and I...where it must still live. Haven't heard from it since!
Do you remember Nancy MacDougall playing Helen Keller and walking with a blindfold everywhere to get in the rhythm of her life? She also had all the lead singing roles in drama!
