I was really awkward and uncomfortable in high school. I'm not sure why but I think I've gotten over it... Now I'm just awkward!

After HS I was in the Army for a while... I got married for a while... I was self-employed doing underwater swimming pool repairs for a while. Then I was a CCCFD Firefighter for a while... I bought and sold 'fixer-uppers' for a while... Got married again for a while... Developed Real Estate for a while... Got unmarried again… Became a vagabond in Mexico for a while (3 years)... Crewed a 52’ Junk rigged schooner for a season… Had a ‘Palapa in Yelapa’ for a year… Helped a friend move boats north for hurricane season for a while… Sold Kyocera solar panels in Canada for a while… Couldn’t make ends meet on solar so I did under the table construction jobs till I got caught… Was given a week to settle things and leave… I left.

I left Canada and came back to the Bay Area and that move turned out to be the end of the 'for a while' phase in my life.

The company I was doing residential pool remodel sales for had a on the job fatality. The owner asked me to put together the non-existent safety letter Cal OSHA wanted to see. I wrote one and Cal OSHA accepted it but due to other factors the business was shut down and I was out of a job.

But I had the 'Safety Letter' that I’d written and I knew a lot of pool businesses that didn't… This was the start of 25 years of developing ‘Safety Programs’ and ‘WorkPlace Safety Meetings’ for small businesses in the building trades.

Somewhere along the way I fell in love with golf and though I never got any good at it and from 2001 to 2009 I could be found at Pine Meadow Golf Course in Martinez at 7:30 Monday through Friday along with Al, Marilyn, and Marilee. Sad story: Pine Meadow closed forever after the last round of golf last Sunday (4/12/15)

I retired to Yuma, AZ in 2009. And needed something to do in the heat of the summer so I started making and selling sterling silver spoon rings on eBay and to my surprise it has developed into a moderately successful business. - https://sterlingspoonrings.com/

After a time my ex-wives and I became friends again… Good friends. Some years Nancy will come down for February to get out of the cold and rain… And Pat and I have vacationed with our son and his wife and taken a ‘road trip’ to help our granddaughter move.

All in all I have to say it’s been a very interesting and educational trip and I’m in no hurry to find out what, if anything is at the end.

To quote Jimmy Buffett, “Some of it’s magic and some of it’s tragic but I’ve had a good life all the way.”

Not having heard from Dana in a while I "googled' him only to learn that he'd passed away in December.
Don't know much about his life in Oregon if anyone does please post it.

Recently reconnected with more fellow crew on Zubenubi and with them I've a few more photos to share.

The first one is 'Zube' in full flight; the second has, from left to right, me, Tomas (retired Swiss representative to US) and Jon (Zubenubi's owner), along with the local crew that helped us get Zube ready to go.

Posted this in Janice Groth's profile when she posted Bruce's passing  in October but I wanted it here on Bruce's Memorial page too...

Oh my to hear of Bruce's passing was a real shock. But thanks for posting. We hadn't emailed (either direction) in a while but I was unaware of his health problems. Have you any more information re: memorial etc.?

We're all at (or near) this point in our lives. Which is why we should all tell the ones we love that we love them... Often... And out loud so they can hear.

On the other side of the coin, we can now stop nodding our heads in agreement while keeping quiet to comments / rhetoric we disagree with. Nicely and kindly of course but hey... What do we have to lose. :o)

FWIW: I think Bruce and I held the school record for distance towing a car with a rope. Stockton to Walnut Creek (old river road) then on to his dad's station in Oakland. Google Maps say that's 73.5 miles but that's on today's roads who knows how far it was back in 1963.

It was nice to reconnect with Nick over the last few years. I seems his family were all doing well.

Rest in peace Nick and save me a seat at the big poker table in the sky... You 'done good.'

Thanks for posting this about George. I didn't know him well but via his memorial and all the photos posted at: https://www.lastingmemories.com/memorial/george-lesnikoff

I feel as though I had.

Photos are so important that we should all go through the boxes of them we have in the attic and put together our life stories while we still can.  Those who carry on will appreciate the effort.

Nancy said it was cold on her houseboat in the winter so I sent her a 'Moose Suit' jumper...

Just sold my 100th Disneyland Spoonring. And yes it has been quite the 'Mickey Mouse' ride... But I wouldn't change a thing.

Best job and the greatest guys in the world but I had other things to do... C'est la vie.
Fortunately everything worked out... Life IS good.
